Title: Karelian Burl Built-in Cabinets
Project / Design:
Twin alcoves 14’ high and 4” wide flanked a bold fireplace with
hammered bronze mantle in a room with 28’ high ceilings. We were requested
to design built-in pieces to house stereo equipment and a flat screen television.
Rare Karelian Maple Burl veneer was applied to doors which were custom made
in a serpentine shape. 1/8” Stainless steel applied to the tops lend
a high tech feel and glass shelves were suspended from stainless steel wire.
At the touch of a button on the remote control the television raises opening
a small door hinged on the top and is elevated to viewing height with no enclosure
or visible means of support.
